On behalf of the CDE, ETS is pleased to announce the availability of asynchronous learning modules which guide educators on how to hand score the Smarter Balanced Interim Assessment performance tasks for English Language Arts/Literacy (ELA) and mathematics.

LEA CAASPP coordinators refer to the CAASPP: Test Administrator Tutorial Available Now! email for more information on how training can be offered to test administrators. The tutorial covers all the basic information needed to prepare test administrators to administer the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments for English language arts/literacy and mathematics, the California Science Test, and the California Spanish Assessment. These can be found on the Videos and Quick Reference Guides web page. The Pause Rules Guide and the Expiration Rules Guide are easy to understand guides for when students pause a test and provides a timeline on when certain tests expire. This can be found on the Directions for Administration, Preparing for Administration, and Scripts for Summative Assessments web page. The Smarter Balanced Summative and CAST scripts is an easy to print document that contains all the instructions and scripts for administering the Smarter Balanced Summative test or the CAST. The “By Enrolled LEA” Student Score Data File will now include assessment records for all currently enrolled students, including newly enrolled students who completed testing at a different LEA.
